Job Outline: Truck Shop / Railcar Mechanic

Experience:
Work history in general maintenance of heavy equipment or similar related area or a background strong in mechanical aptitude preferred.

Work Hours:
Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
2nd Shift: 3:30 p.m. - Midnight


Pay Range:
$12.50/hr - $14.50/hr
Shift Differential: $2.00


Capabilities:
Ability to operate basic hand tools (grinder, sander, drill motor, rivet gun, hammer, tape measure, impact wrench, etc.) to perform various tasks of assembly or disassembly as required. Familiarity with metal cutting equipment (hand shears, reciprocating saw, plasma cutting torch, oxygen/acetylene torch, band saw, and cut-off saw) helpful but not required.

Assemble/disassemble railcar trucks and related running gear assemblies including draft gear, couplers, and hand brakes. Use of large wrenches and ratchets, impact tools, chain hoist and air hammers may be required.

Ability to read and follow blueprints helpful.

Able to understand instructions and carry out tasks as required by supervision.

Able to lift up to 50 lbs., in repeated bending and stooping motions.

Able to keep work area clean.

Describe activities performed daily and account for them in the current timekeeping system.

Pre-employment Requirements:
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
